Home Built or Commercial for your Learning System

eLearning 24-7

There are two types of learning systems. I’m not talking about an LMS, LXP, combo, TDP, or EXP (drop the name on that), learning platform, or “We are not an LMS, and anyway, they are a dying breed” (I’ve written that is far from true). What I am referring to, is commercial or in-house. In-house is really popular, among many companies, academia (Moodle was originally designed for academia, and is heavily used there, still), organizations, associations, even 3rd party conte

Interview with Instructional Design Pioneer, Dean Pichee

It is often a challenge to find the pioneers of instructional design for not only e-learning, but also the days of CBT (Computer-Based Training) and before that when we had LANs and WANs with text driven content that went out to the masses. Anyone who grew up during those days, remembers when office computers, and even home, had a monochrome screen.

AI in the Workplace – How Accurate R the Results?

A funny thing happened on the way to using GPT-4 last week, which I suspect that the vendors who have implemented GPT-4 and are using it as a statement/Q and A to the learners were not paying attention to. Equally, my vibe says that companies and organizations that use Enterprise GPT (GPT-4) may have been unaware because the bug also hit there. The bug caused anyone who was asking questions or statements in GPT-4 to receive outputs of garbage, bizarre , and just downright weird.

Enterprise Learning Systems – How I love thee?

Buying a Learning System – Dread

Dread. It’s not a typical word that comes up when you decide to purchase whatever type of learning system, whether it is an LMS, LXP, Learning Platform, Talent Development Platform, Employee Dev Platform (a tiny market, but it exists), or whatever a vendor spins their learning system as. Yet it is there. Dread. In the states, a recent poll found that 64% of Americans see 2024 as dreed.

Forecasts for 2024 – Learning Tech and Systems

I was curious to know who the first person was to say, “Happy New Year.” I reached out to GPT-4 and learned that nobody really knows (bummer), and that it was celebrated over 2,000 years ago, but nobody said that wordage, and that it was tied to the Gregorian calendar in the 16th century. Considering that 2,000 years ago, the Gregorian calendar didn’t exist, for all we know, New Year’s Day could have been March the 5th.

Gen AI and Your Workforce

Way too many companies think that L&D will put together a plan, and then provide learning to their employees in a quick fashion. They ignore that it takes time. Planning. Strategy. Rollout, and the list goes on. With generative AI, companies are adding it without truly investigating its impact, not just now, but down the road. They bring in the top talent to identify the right LLM or LLMs.
