I do a lot of presentations where one of the topics is how to use LinkedIn more effectively as part of your knowledge work. In most cases, I will ask for a show of hands: How many of you have a LinkedIn Account? Generally 50-70%. How many of you actively use LinkedIn? Generally down to 10%. How many of you get really high value from LinkedIn?

For people new to the concepts of social media and reviewing their tool set, is Twitter a good choice as a tool? My concern about twitter is that it will be too random for most people, especially those who have not established any relationships / understanding of the people they are following. I just saw a post by Amit Garg Top 47 eLearning & Workplace Learning Blogs. His list was very similar to the list of sources that eLearning Learning includes. It made me wonder how many sources does eLearning Learning include? Turns out it's exactly 99. eLearning Learning is looking for a bit deeper posts that focus on applied issues.

Twitter has become a pretty great tool to help with socializing at conferences. Here are a few of the things we've been doing Twitter as Social Chat At both DevLearn and TechKnowledge , we created a hashtag and created a specific Twitter account that was the hub. We also encouraged everyone to put in the hashtag. Great use of the Twitter stream!

They complain that their LMS has a terrible interface that is nearly unusable. Users hate the system.

The last few online webinars I've attended there's been an interesting issue. Many of the participants are Twitter users who are becoming used to chatting via twitter. So, both the webinar tool (Elluminate, WebEx, Adobe Connect, etc.) have a chat stream happening and there's one going on via twitter. Twitter Chat Annoying? Short Term Right Answer?

This is either in terms of specific needs, e.g., improve customer satisfaction, or as part of an overall eLearning strategy. I've really been striking out.

Neuroscientist Ian Robertson polled 3,000 people and found that the younger ones were less able than their elders to recall standard personal info. And when he asked them their own phone number, fully one-third of the youngsters drew a blank. is okay.
