Electronic performance support support systems (EPSS) were the rage. | ABSORB LMS DECEMBER 22, 2011 The Biggest Myths in Learning and Development In the early 1960s, philosopher Abraham Kaplan and psychologist Abraham Maslow independently described the idea that being in possession of an instrument affects our perception. ABSORB LMS | THURSDAY, JANUARY 24, 2013 How Mobile Devices are Influencing User Interface Design “Dear Doctor, I’m concerned about Stanley. He has developed an unusual growth between his left thumb and index finger. The growth is the size of an average hardcover book, yet thinner. One side is silver and emblazoned with the image of an apple. The other glows with an iridescent light. Stanley does not appear to be in any pain. Nevertheless, I know he’s concerned since he stares and taps at the growth constantly. Sincerely, —Concerned” . ABSORB LMS | FRIDAY, JANUARY 13, 2012 Learning Management Practices that Sabotage Scalability Organizations that move from managing training manually using spreadsheets or pen and paper to using a learning management system (LMS) invariably see improved efficiency and cost savings. Thrilled with the gains achieved, these organizations often stop short of any further optimization. So, why aren’t LMS vendors fixing the problem? The short answer is that it’s really tough to please all system administrators: Some administrators want the reporting features to be super easy. They want templates with one button to push. MORE >> -

ABSORB LMS | FRIDAY, DECEMBER 14, 2012 Course-of-the-Month Club: Using a Learning Management System to Sell Subscriptions to Learning Content It seems as if almost every organization I speak to wants to use a learning management system (LMS) in a different way. One company I recently met with uses a magazine subscription-like business model to sell bundles of courses: A customer signs up for an annual subscription. The person immediately gets access to some courses. In the second month of the subscription, they get access to new courses and can continue to access the courses from month one. This continues monthly until the subscription expires after 12 months. The customer is then given the option to renew. Ok, full disclosure. MORE >>
