Learning and technology has nothing to do with generational divides. But first, let’s dig into the background and the fallacy. Hogwash. | BRAVE NEW ORG APRIL 18, 2010 The Org Structure of Enterprise 2.0 I’m lucky to be a member of the 2.0 Adoption Council , founded by Susan Scrupski. As a member, I have access to a plethora of sharing, information and intellect as it relates to how individuals are driving Enterprise 2.0 in their respective organization. And then it struck me – the Org Structure of Enterprise 2.0 should be exactly what Enterprise 2.0 But what should that look like? principles. | | | | | | | BRAVE NEW ORG OCTOBER 20, 2011 Introducing the Digital Learning Quadrants This is the follow-up post and answer to “ The Fallacy of Digital Natives “ Let us agree, therefore, that regardless of age or situation, the learning process is one in which any learner can utilize formal, informal and social means to actually learn. It has nothing to do with generational divides. Disconnected Nomad. Millions of individuals in the world fit into this category. | BRAVE NEW ORG MAY 23, 2011 Learning 2.0 is Dumb: Use ‘Connected Learning’ Instead Going forward, and as best I can, I’ll use the term ‘ Connected Learning’ to describe a knowledge ecosystem made up of formal, informal and social learning behaviours and modalities. It’s about time I (and perhaps you as well) retire the term Learning 2.0. Learning 2.0 implies there may be Learning 3.0 coming; learning can’t be thought of or positioned as a series of iPhone versions (ie. | BRAVE NEW ORG JANUARY 6, 2011 Learning With and From Others: Restructuring Budgets for Social Learning Originally posted to T+D Magazine, January 2011 Edition. BRAVE NEW ORG | SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 2011 ABC – The 21st Century Learning Model For those that know me, I started out my career many moons ago as a K-12 educator. For some of you, I’m sure you’re thinking, “what a lunatic”. only lasted three years but I look back on those years, nevertheless, with the fondest of memories. Truth be told though, I didn’t last because I was in the minority. As a 25 year-old trying to uproot the education system to become more collaborative, more open, more connected, I was leery of falling into the ambivalence pit of staffroom rhetoric. was in the minority of trying to bring the education system to its knees. Why wasn’t there a change afoot? MORE >> -
BRAVE NEW ORG | SUNDAY, APRIL 24, 2011 You are the Collective Wisdom of both Strong & Weak Ties I’m not known to normally pick a fight with someone, but if I see or read something that seems somewhat incongruent to a combination of my beliefs and formal research, well, I tend to stick myself into the fray. See Kirkpatrick posts one and two for both comedic relief and testament to the aforementioned. Jennifer Sertl seems like a talented person. She’s an author , runs a blog , has her own company , and generally looks to be more than successful in her career. for better or worse on the latter point of course). am the result of both strong and weak ties. am nothing without both sets of ties. BRAVE NEW ORG | THURSDAY, MARCH 25, 2010 What’s Needed First? Culture Change or Enterprise 2.0 Adoption There is a dilemma that exists in the 90-9-1 phenomenon. Do we first require an organizational culture adaptation prior to any meaningful Enterprise 2.0 adoption? Thus, helping us reverse the order where, now, 90% of the population are active creators versus 1%? Or, do Enterprise 2.0 tools need to become so simplistic, easy to use and of course generally available to an organization before a culture can be considered connected, flat and more collaborative? It feels like a causality dilemma worth exploring. That got me thinking. That should change the culture, right? Well, how do you do that? MORE >> -
BRAVE NEW ORG | SATURDAY, APRIL 2, 2011 The 90-9-1 Collaboration Paradox: Org’s Should Aim To Reverse It Through various studies and reports, given the chance where online participation is possible, 90% of the users will simply observe and lurk (remember, Learning is Lurking ), 9% will occasionally contribute, edit, etc. whereas 1% of users can be denoted as those that contribute most of the content itself. BRAVE NEW ORG | SATURDAY, JANUARY 29, 2011 The Collaboration Cycle In a previous instalment entitled “ The Collaboration Curve ”, I discussed the basic premise that over a period of time and as the use of collaboration methods increase, a user’s knowledge, engagement, network and ultimately their performance would increase. The various increases, however, occur one after the other, and is somewhat dependent on both the use of collaboration methods and the speed at which each stage occurs. There is a question that remains. How should one actually collaborate ? Enter “ The Collaboration Cycle ”. . . Continuous, Authentic, Receptive and Enrich). Continuous. MORE >>
