I mentioned in my post 2009 Predictions How Did I Do? that we are seeing more and more about Add-ins & Mashups as a means to build richer learning experiences. particularly cited a DevLearn demo of twitter being embedded inside Captivate as the basis of a social learning experience. I do a lot of presentations where one of the topics is how to use LinkedIn more effectively as part of your knowledge work. In most cases, I will ask for a show of hands: How many of you have a LinkedIn Account? Generally 50-70%. How many of you actively use LinkedIn? Generally down to 10%. How many of you get really high value from LinkedIn?

For people new to the concepts of social media and reviewing their tool set, is Twitter a good choice as a tool? My concern about twitter is that it will be too random for most people, especially those who have not established any relationships / understanding of the people they are following. There is one exception to this.
