The concept seems straightforward--a no brainer, take content that is used by many different organizations, and share it with others so that the overall cost is extremely low or free. One of the best known is MIT's Open Courseware project. ASTD's Big Question for March is How do we leverage open content in workplace learning?

Is there some historical background here that Im missing, like computers in the UK didnt have speakers until 2002 so they never bothered? My trans-Atlantic observations indicate that UK/Ireland courseware is more likely to be accessible and media-switching software more generally available. Whats your take on using audio in eLearning?

By offering new services, companies not only expand sales but also install customer loyalty. ·         By offering new courseware, companies not only expand learning but also instill learner loyalty. Today, all knowledge workers are free agents. Wireless connectivity will free us to work wherever we please. Clocks run faster.
Oh, and as I mentioned in a recent entry on my blog, Dont Make Me Think by Steve Krug is useful on the usability stakes - perhaps more so when you step from courseware and in to the wider field of elearning/performance support. The book builds on the 4C/ID model described in the 2002 article that John Curry linked to. Or can we stop?
