Why is Instructional Design Trending Downward.since 2004?

Corporate eLearning Strategies and Development

The graphic above comes from trends.google.com using the search term "instructional design".  This is a bit surprising to me as I see online training becoming more and more popular every day. I see the digital marketing world promoting the online courses as another great form of content. I see more and more bloggers in the world of online training. And of course the blog aggregation

Why SCORM 2004 failed & what that means for Tin Can

eFront

“SCORM 2004 is dying (if not already dead!).” For the careful observer there are many signs to support this view, and here are a few of them: Sign #1: 75% of packages are still on SCORM 1.2, 10 years after the initial release of SCORM 2004 [1] [2]. Sign #2: There is no certification process for tools and packages for the latest SCORM 2004 4 th edition. Low adoption. frameset?

Advantages and Disadvantages of SCORM 1.2 vs 2004

eLearning Chef

While SCORM 2004 is dated by its very name, it has gone through several revisions and absolutely remains (at this time) a viable solution for tracking your courseware. However, many LMS products still lack in full SCORM 2004 support, various tools interpret the spec differently, and it does add a bit more complexity to the overall setup of the course. So is there really an advantage to using the ‘newer’ SCORM 2004 spec over the older SCORM 1.2? There are three significant changes in SCORM 2004; ‘Status’ Separation, read-write Interactions, and Sequencing. It depends!

Carr-Chellman & Savoy (2004) provide a broad overview of user design. According to Carr-Chellman & Savoy (2004), traditional instructional design methodologies disenfranchise the user from the design process. Carr-Chellman & Savoy (2004) carefully distinguish user design from other methodologies of user-oriented design, namely user-centered design and emancipatory design.

Notes from 2004

Learning and Working on the Web

I was listening to an interview with Steven Johnson on CBC Spark and he suggested that it’s a good practice to take regular notes (like my blog) but also important to review them regularly. I’ve gone through my 2004 posts, which was my first year of full-time blogging on this site, and here is what still remains interesting. Note that in 2004, blogging was not mainstream yet. More thoughts & comments from 2004: Many companies are trying to find ways to motivate their knowledge workers. also wrote -. Is anything like this happening? The rubber ball is work.
