PowerPoint won’t allow you to adjust the transparency of a photo so you'll need to scrap that plan.   Insert your photo onto your slide (Insert > Pictures).

It works so well for your project that you want to add the exact animation sequence to several more objects on several slides. Heck, maybe you want to add the sequence to every object on every slide.

This PowerPoint user wanted to be able to create multiple charts with the same formatting (ie bars on a graph with a gradient effect) without having to individually format each separate piece of every new chart. An attempt at copying and pasting the slide using the Keep Source Fformatting option did not keep the chart's formatting.

Using motion paths in PowerPoint is fun, but also kind of complicated. Probably the most complicated aspect of using motion paths is continuing the motion from slide-to-slide. You want an image on your slide to move using a custom motion path. To line up on the next slide exactly where the image ended is very difficult.

If you know that the first audio file ends after 1:35 and you'll be on your third slide then, then you would put the second audio file on the third slide and set it to play after 1:35.    Insert the audio file on the slide on which you would like the audio to begin ( Insert > Audio ).

Perhaps this is because older versions of PowerPoint (2003 or below) didn’t have as many graphic editing options as never versions (2007 or higher). Duplicate (Ctrl-D) will automatically copy and paste whatever slide you select and place it right below the original slide. It will be identical in every way to the previous slide. Copy, (Ctrl-C) will save a copy of the slide to your clipboard so that it can be pasted (Ctrl-V) elsewhere in the presentation.

For some PowerPoint projects you may find that you would like to line up elements in a certain way and that having guides on the slide would be useful. Two guides appear on the slide by default (one vertical, the other horizontal). Most people who use the guides need things lined up at specific measurable spots on the slide.
