“To attain knowledge, add things everyday. To attain wisdom, remove things every day.” -Lao Tzu

The video below is from my son’s 7th grade science class. His school has an amazing set of teachers which has been inspiring to watch and has totally changed the way my son views school.  Mr Canterbury has converted the entire year from a boring slog through science into an exciting mission to Mars. Kudos to him and the rest of the Worthingway Middle School staff!

Now to blast off with the best of this week’s learning, design and technology news.

How Workflow Learning Can Power the Classroom

In this post, Conrad Gottfredson (@congott) says that “On the average, half of the skills covered in traditional formal learning can be safely pushed in their entirety into the workflow.” He also goes on to talk about how the instructional methodology makes a difference in the speed and degree to which people learn and how workflow learning can add back time for methodology without adding more time to training.

A Guide to Cloud Fonts in Microsoft Office 365

Fonts used to be a challenge in PowerPoint when sending or sharing your slide decks. If the recipient didn’t have the same font installed that you used to create the slides the whole thing could take an ugly and frustrating turn for the worse. Fortunately, Microsoft has changed the game with the recent addition of Cloud fonts. Now your slides can look the same, no matter where you open them or who else views them. Julie Terberg (@JulieTerberg) has put together this handy guide to help.
