The notions of collective intelligence and mass amateurization are redefining scholarship as we grapple with issues of top-down control and grassroots scholarship. Contribution patterns - most active contributors and methods of contribution, busiest days and times for contributing, frequency and amount of contributions by job, level, business unit, etc.
I am often asked by business leaders to describe what we intend to measure in order to understand, manage, and improve the networked (or social) learning eco-system. There is interest in knowing how we will prove networked learning, turn potential chaos into something that is more certain and efficient, and to get some kind of “history” about the learning and development for individuals

I wanted to share what one large organization has learnt about the need to employ “change management” activities and good GUI principles in order to increase adoption rates of a social network service.
I read this on an internal blog from one of my client organizations. I have removed the names of organizations and people in order to avoid any policy violations.

Today i’ve met with Joitske Hulsebosch , she’s a Dutch consultant in this field and an active member of CP2. After being “a friend” and lurking for a while, i became a full (paying) member of the CP Square (CP2) community. CP Square is a community of practice about communities of practice.

Ross Dawson discusses a Gartner report on social software, looking at some particular forecasts for the next three to five years out:

8226; Include activities that require sequencing and categorisation.
• In my previous article , I proposed a Taxonomy of Learning Theories to organise a few of the myriad of theories into some semblance of order, and to assist instructional designers in using theory to inform their work.
In this article, I go one step further by listing specific, practical instructional design tips that are informed by those theories.

properly organised activity should get the students thinking about the task, not the tool!
So, Induction & Icebreaker activities. Of course this is by no means an exhaustive list, and I'm happy to hear your activities, so please post below.
Try to keep all your activities using tools already available to the students in the VLE or One aspect of learning online is that the students will feel distant and isolated from not only you (the Institution and staff facilitator) but also from each other.

My approach towards scenarios When designing any kind of elearning, I like to use Cathy Moore's action mapping approach to first define the scenario-based activities. Tags: interactivity demos creativity scenario based learning activities learning elearnin So last week I tweeted an example of immersive learning scenario built entirely in Powerpoint and published using Articulate Presenter . Given that I saw the tweet travel a fair bit, I thought it might be a good idea to share some of the related ideas on this blog.

We were partly dissatisfied with previous activities we'd used, and on the other hand we also wanted to try our hand at something new. Since I was feeling inventive, I came up with a new Retrospective activity - "Eye on the future" . We tried the activity with great success in the retro that Jaggu was running; as did Rohith Rajagopal/ Siva Jagadeesan in the other retro that was running at the same time and apparently Pat Sarnacke tried this out in an end of release retro as well. Today, Jaggu and I spent some time debating the best retro format for a team that was taking some learning from a training program and was about to apply it onto a simulation.
