Typically when August rolls around we’re gearing up for our annual trip to iFEST in Alexandria, VA. Hosted by ADL and NTSA, iFEST is a great conference that brings together people from the military, government, academic and industry sectors to discuss ways to evolve the distributed learning and training landscape.

Things look a little different this year as iFEST 2020 has shifted to an online conference, which couldn’t be more aptly themed—“Working Out What Works: Creating Value from Innovation”. The conference will run from August 17th through August 19th. While it’s always ideal to meet IRL, we’re excited to see this online conference come to life and the pros that come along with it. One major benefit is the free registration for all government employees and U.S. Military and Active Duty members. Additionally, no travel expenses means that we can include a larger audience in the discussions. All keynote sessions and panel discussions will also be available on-demand after the event for continued reference. As an added bonus, iFEST will be using xAPI to track attendee engagement and populate leaderboards.

So instead of hopping on a plane and seeing people in person, we’re doing the next best thing and having a virtual booth at the conference. Yes, we will miss the face-to-face conversations, sitting in the audience for presentations and admiring a hallway of poster sessions, but on a positive note, we’re super excited that the conference continues. And in a virtual setting and free registration for all government employees and U.S. Military and Active Duty, we’re looking forward to increased participation from these groups and sharing ways we can help when it comes to managing distributed learning efforts as well as ways to help encourage adoption of xAPI and cmi5.

Registration for iFEST is still open, so sign up today, and come ‘visit us’! If you can’t make it to our virtual booth next week, no problem. You can always ask us anything and we’ll also be sharing our post event thoughts after the conference.
