I’m CheRae, an (aspiring freelance) Instructional designer specializing in developing eLearning courses.

The thing I like most about being an Instructional Designer is that I get to wear so many different hats. In a single day, I’ve been a Film Maker, Voice Actor, Script Writer, Producer, Photographer, Graphic Designer, Teacher, and Video Game Developer!

My eLearning journey first began in college when I created an LMS site in my Curriculum Instruction class. I enjoyed the assignment so much that during my work study as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant I persuaded the Instructor to allow me to build a site for our class. That experience enabled me to obtain my first Instructional Design internship before graduating, where I first used the Adobe Captivate authoring tool.

After starting a family and taking a hiatus from developing eLearning products I recently got serious about sharpening my skills and attended the Adobe Learning Summit in Las Vegas where I completed the Adobe Captivate Specialist assessment following the pre-work modules. While I thought it very difficult to complete all of the pre-work modules within the two week period things at the convention went fairly smooth.

Everything was awesome! Adobe created an app to help attendees register for breakout sessions and navigate the convention halls where there was tons of free food around every corner and plenty of interesting topics and people. The keynote speaker even elicited a tear from my eye as she spoke about the difficulties of raising a family and being a career woman and since I had traveled to the convention with a 12-month-old infant her words really resonated with me at a time that I really needed to hear them.

The best part of it all is that I get continued access to the library of video tutorials from Dr. Pooja Jaisingh Adobe Prime. I have to admit I was little skeptical but I can know testify that it was worth every penny!

I saw you receive your award! … but we didn’t meet. I was dog sick at the convention (something I ate) so I mostly kept to myself.  I regret not being able to socialize and network as much as I would like but I will definitely go to another in the future and try to meet all the Adobe Experts who’ve taught and inspired me through these forums.

Congratulations with you efforts to combine baby care with a career, not easy at all! I sincerely hope you’ll have a wonderful 2019 ahead.  Maybe you have seen me in Las Vegas, but it was such a crowd. Whenever you need help, know that I try to help users daily here on the portal and through other media.
