Adobe in not an elearning company. Adobe is in the software business. | ELLEN WAGNER JULY 13, 2010 Elluminate, Wimba and Adobe Connect, Oh, My I heard from a few of my education friends after posting yesterday's report from Blackboard World. To be honest, several asked point blank what I was thinking to take a positive stand on this particular acquisition development in higher education. | | | | | | | TONY KARRER DECEMBER 2, 2008 Collaboration Tools As I mentioned in Real-Time Collaborative Editing , I had a fantastic experience participating in group editing of a Mind Map of collaborative tools during a session at Learn Trends. You can see the result below. But it was interesting to see the results exported which I've embedded below. | GEORGE SIEMENS OCTOBER 4, 2011 Why do synchronous web tools suck? In the past, I was involved with Elluminate as a community partner. With Blackboard’s purchase of Elluminate, that arrangement was cancelled. We’ve tried Adobe Connect, but audio quality has been poor in the past. Elluminate was/is what an online platform needs to be: simple, easy to use, with good quality audio. Elluminate was simple, clunky, intuitive, and remains the best synchronous tool I’ve used. We are several weeks into the Change open online course. We have an outstanding speaker list. All have been terrible failures. | GEORGE SIEMENS JULY 8, 2010 Well Played, Blackboard While Blackboard is unable to write a press release that includes clear statements like “we have purchased these companies , I have to give the company credit for the acquisition of Elluminate (and Wimba). In academia, Wimba and Elluminate are the dominant players. Adobe Connect has somewhat of an academic presence, but it has seen far more success in corporate settings, similar to WebEx and GoToMeeting. Over the last few years, I’ve been a community partner with Elluminate (an arrangement that expires (is up for renewal?) Here’s why. | TONY KARRER MAY 14, 2009 Twitter and Webinars So, both the webinar tool (Elluminate, WebEx, Adobe Connect, etc.) recently complained that even after all these years, tools like Elluminate and WebEx still didn't provide the ability to have people put their pictures and other information on their profiles so you could find out more about the users. The last few online webinars I've attended there's been an interesting issue. Many of the participants are Twitter users who are becoming used to chatting via twitter. have a chat stream happening and there's one going on via twitter. Twitter Chat Annoying? EXPERIENCING ELEARNING | MONDAY, JANUARY 3, 2011 Synchronous Software Scavenger Hunts Application training via a synchronous tool like WebEx, Adobe Connect, or Elluminate too often ends up with passive learners. If I’m doing software application training, doing it as a webinar isn’t really my first choice. I’d rather create a bunch of Captivate tutorials and job aids to let people learn at their own pace, when they need to use the skills. Just-in-time, interactive training that supports or simulates actual tasks is my first choice. In my current contract, I’ve been working on creating a Moodle site for a year-long training program. TONY KARRER | WEDNESDAY, JULY 23, 2008 Webinar Software - Adoption Advice We are considering moving to other products such as Adobe Connect. Anyone have concern about adopting Adobe Connect vs. the myriad of other solutions out there? Has anyone had enough experience with Adobe Connect delivered to a wide audience that you can say what kinds of issues they might expect? This is followed by Microsoft with 29.3%, Adobe with 24.7%, and Citrix Online with 11.7%. In addition to the four they list, I've personally had experience with GoToMeeting and GoToWebinar, Elluminate, Centra and Interwise. few thoughts. MORE >> -
LEARNADOODLEDASTIC | THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2009 The Three Dubya's - Wimba, Webex and WiZiQ There are occasionally microphone connection issues for participants which seemed to be most problematic for webex users, but after some effort most people got sorted out ok. Elluminate is popular in education circles. favoured Webex over Elluminate when looking at theses products over a year ago. prefer the Webex interface and the visual appeal of the learning environment and at the time i wanted to have as many simultaneous VOIP connections open at the same time (webex allows 7 and Elluminate 5 (at the time of testing)). Good for free though. MORE >> -
IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CURVE | THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 2008 The Back of the Napkin Elluminate for one). Take 1 meeting tool - WebEx, Adobe Connect, GotoMeeting, Elluminate etc - Take over the desktop and put PowerPoint on the meeting - There is a great online drawing tool in PowerPoint (that most Microsofties don't know about) - Go into presentation mode. Presentation: The Back of the Napking Presenter: Dan Roam www.thebackofthenapkin.com We can solve our problems with pictures. When someone thinks visually, they are able to become much more clear about what the problem is about. Which problems are we talking about? Who is going to do this?) MORE >>
