I just watched a great demo of Adobe’s new baby called Flash Catalyst. What blew me away was the interoperability of the files between all Adobe products – the files go back and forth between Catalyst, Illustrator, Photoshop etc in what seems to the end user a seamless process. Catalyst lets you create interactive content without coding..nice! nice!

This news from Broadcom and Adobe certainly caught my attention. This is not only a great opportunity for Adobe Flash, but opens up many, many opportunities for Flash developers and hopefully e-learning designers.
For now I am going to assume a content developer’s kit (CDK) will be provided by Adobe and the TV remote will act in the same manner as a Flash enabled phone’s key pad, recognizing key presses, etc. It has been announced that Flash will be available on TVs! This will now place rich Internet applications (RIA) on TVs, using Flash Lite Player 3.

In an anonymous reply to my posting yesterday on the pirating of PC software, an elearning developer asked "How do real people actually afford/justify purchasing something like the Adobe eLearning Suite?" quot; He'd tried open source and free software but had to admit that, as far as e-learning development software was concerned, "Adobe is still king and will remain so for our foreseeable future." quot; Adobe do make low-cost software of course, for the consumer market, and only a chronic misery guts would complain at the functionality you gained for under $100 from a product such as Photoshop Elements or Premiere Elements.
