Given that I came from one of the pioneers in the industry (eHelp) which brought RoboDemo, now Adobe Captivate, to market (which btw we purchased from a guy selling the previous incarnation out of his garage in Australia), you would think that I am a true believer in the concept. They are reduced to storyboarding in PowerPoint or Post-its, developing in Captivate or Articulate, and using iStockPhoto to fill in for their illustrative work.
The term ‘rapid elearning’ has befuddled me for some time. Beth's reference to "Rabid eLearning" in her recent blog post got me thinking

This month's ASTD Big Question relates to a person who graduated from a theory-only program in Instructional Design and was not provided with the experience of actually creating instruction using any of the latest tools. Here are two such courses. 57.584 Online Course Design -teaches Blackboard, Centra, Captivate, Adobe Presenter, Snag-It and Hot Potatoes. 57.588 Learning Management System Administration requires students to develop and deploy an actual course using the LMS Plateau (Why Plateau? So the question is: What advice would you give to someone who has no experience with e-learning development tools?

ASTD TechKnowledge 2008 San Antonio is over. The facilities were infinitely better, the frequent meals provided by ASTD were a nice bonus, and the sessions seemed better organized and of higher quality. Well done, ASTD.
The Adobe Captivate 3 workshop was a revelation for computer simulation training. After having had a little time to think and reflect, here’s my overall review of the event.
