Year in Review: 5 eLearning Reports to Read before 2016

• 3 min read
2015 was a big year for Docebo and the learning industry as a whole. New ideas, and revelations on older ideas, were brought to the stage and molded into the strategies we’ll be using in 2016 and beyond. We thought now would be a good time to reflect on our year in research.

If you haven’t read any of these reports or you’re looking for more information on learning, MOOCs, and learning across the extended enterprise, these resources are all great places to start. Click the links in each section to download the reports.

MOOCs, from Academia to Corporate

“Corporate partnering with MOOCs is something that’ll be evolving in the next few years. A reputable MOOC, coming from the universities, or platforms like edX, could be integrated with corporate development plans. So an LMS wouldn’t necessarily render MOOCs irrelevant. There’s a lot of information that needs to be transferred to employees. If the information already exists and comes from a reputable university, I’d take advantage of that.”

Extended Enterprise

Win your competitive race with extended enterprise learning

Author John Leh, CEO and Lead Analyst at Talented Learning, discusses the tools and technology needed to engage extended enterprise users across the organization.

The evolution of cloud computing, mobile devices and social media changed the learning and development market in ways that no one could have predicted,” Leh writes, and points out that EE learning is facilitated by an LMS to keep track of your users, your content and the relationship between the two.

The New 70:20:10

The Changing Face of Learning

The new study by the Aberdeen Group – included in the joint whitepaper – shows that business leaders and HR executives are dissatisfied with traditional and formal learning solutions, and that they would prefer an option to include learning technology that focuses on the informal settings.

Aberdeen’s research shows:

  • 24% of organizations are appealing to diverse learning styles by planning to adopt new learning delivery modalities – such as online and/or mobile
  • In the next 12 to 24 months, organizations plan to increase learning spend by 87%
  • “Best-in-class” organizations are 78% more likely than others to deploy user-generated content for learning
  • “Best-in-class” organizations are 5 times more likely than others to use a social LMS

LMS Trends 2015

Is it Time for Something Different?

The 2015 LMS Trends report from Brandon Hall Group paints a picture of widespread dissatisfaction (and high turnover) among organizations that use an LMS.

Organizations that responded to the firm’s survey say they’re paying far too much for systems that are difficult to use, out of date and that don’t provide the data and analytics the organizations need the most. The report outlines six major findings, and provides four critical calls-to-action for companies who want to rethink their approach to learning technologies.
