What about AICC? Unless you purchased a tool that is only AICC compliant, which in that case, time to ditch it and get another one. If you purchased an AICC only, then you have to find a system that is AICC compliant. It can be SCORM too, but the AICC is the key. . What about PENS or some other compliance standard?

There are three types of systems that slide under “learning platforms” The most common one supports PowerPoint, and videos and other content – and can track it, but they DO NOT support any version of SCORM, nor do they support AICC, PENS, Tin Can and so on. The same with authoring tools BTW. .

Qualcomm acquired GestureTek, which uses ultrasound sensors to track movement via a microphone, rather than a camera. LMS streamlined functionality – some reports, minor analytical date, e-mail messaging (I have even seen SMS – sweet), batch uploading of users and yes, I have seen two vendors add some tracking functionality.

Look at a minimum of 5-6 vendors and not just the well-known ones like Articulate or Captivate – they are good products, depending on what you want, but there are 108 content authoring tool vendors (that I track), plus many more open source ones (see my latest Content Authoring Tool Directory.

What I am finding is that AICC is nearly gone in the LEP space (as it is with LMSs too), so if I was you, I’d seek SCORM, SCORM 1.2, PENS is nearly non-existent in this segment and CMI-5 is extremely new and few vendors have it – expect more in 2019. xAPI as my top three. Voodoo says hi).
