| Page 1 of 2 | Previous | Next | THE LEARNING GENERALIST NOVEMBER 13, 2010 Mobile Learning - 7 Interesting Patterns have however, been observing a bunch of patterns with mobile learning that could become the norm for how this practice evolves in the enterprise. In today's blogpost (which I anticipate could be a tad long), I want to outline some of these patterns and invite discussion on what you think the future of this space could look like. What other patterns have you been seeing? | THE LEARNING GENERALIST JULY 9, 2010 Retrospective Pattern - The World Cafe In order to introduce them to the idea that there are different patterns to retrospectives, I wanted to try a different way of conducting the ritual. Often retros are a very left-brained activity, with people doing a structured brainstorm, then analytically bubbling up the most important themes and then discussing action items to resolve or address the issues. Today at ThoughtWorks University , I tried a different format for the team's retrospective. This is a team that's one week into their first project and have finished their first iteration time-box. Sumeet Moghe, 2009. | | | | | | | VIPLAV BAXI MEANDERINGS NOVEMBER 8, 2012 Educational Analytics Conference Session Recently (Nov 6), I had the opportunity to convene a session at the FICCI Higher Education Summit 2012 titled Powering the Higher Education System through Information and Analytics. The pattern that emerges is no longer surprising. similar pattern can be seen in reports that I have covered in my blog earlier ( Teacher Education , Open Distance Learning ). | MARCIA CONNER JANUARY 9, 2013 Resolution: This Year Create a Stronger, Smarter Organization By breaking long-standing patterns and clearing away the practices that seemed like good ideas when they were launched, but together were maddening, we ended up reinventing their people strategy for their existing workforce, people desperate to work in new ways. You’re not alone. They brought me in to reimagine their recruiting, talent management, and leadership development program. | MARK OEHLERT DECEMBER 19, 2012 Pattern Recognition, Neoterics and moving on. We have analytics out the YinYang for Twitter, Facebook and every other network we're on. Now I'm thinking about my fav passage from William Gibson, @GreatDismal, and his book Pattern Recognition : “We have no idea, now, of who or what the inhabitants of our future might be. Pattern recognition” . Between Neoterics and Pattern Recognition.we Like a lot of people, I read Anil Dash's " The Web We Lost " and I read Hugh MacLeod's corollary piece. I'm split on how I feel here. Or not as much. But its still cool and it can still be cooler. Or cool again. And edgy. | VIPLAV BAXI MEANDERINGS JANUARY 30, 2011 LAK11: Semantic Web and Learning Analytics For example, SABA’s BI (I think they use Business Objects) & SABA Social or Mzinga Omnisocial Platform analytics or Valdis Krebs’ work at orgnet or the work being done at Radian6, don’t leave much to imagination. They offer an on-demand SaaS Human Capital Analytics System with rich dashboards and an impressive client list. disagree with scores or tool access patterns or attendance being used to make predictions. In the process, they would, by definition have ignored several other seemingly unconnected data, undermining the very starting point of the analytics itself. | | | | | | | | | -
VIPLAV BAXI MEANDERINGS | WEDNESDAY, MAY 5, 2010 Trends as a pattern of change over time All started from the OECD starter framework and the edFutures week 1 discussion that I attempted to initiate on not using trends as our starting point if we are to analytically propose a framework for alternate education futures. George Siemens defines trends as a pattern of change over time. Is a trend a pattern? Network analysis and other statistical analyses may reveal patterns in the phenomenon of social networking – whether temporal or not. There is a pattern of use there. Then perhaps there are patterns of network formation and sharing preferences. MORE >> -
ECONTENT | THURSDAY, MAY 20, 2010 Data Privacy Concerns and Analytics I love web metrics (and Google Analytics), but I also love my privacy. Successful eCommerce is predicated upon understanding usage patterns, and converting web visitors to customers. Web Analytics need the ability to measure the patterns of visitors to a web site. This might seem to be in conflict with data privacy concerns, thus I was extremely pleased to learn of a new effort which is able to measure web analytics without the need for a tag or cookie! However, as a web technologist, I want to measure user behavior. Hard to imagine? Web / Corporate 2.0 MORE >> -
IGNATIA WEBS | FRIDAY, JANUARY 21, 2011 #LAK11 analyse your learner/worker interactions with SNAPP to increase #elearning outputs, pedagogy and #performance The network visualisations of forum interactions provide an opportunity for teachers to rapidly identify patterns of user behaviour – at any stage of course progression. moodle social network knowledge mooc lak11 eLearning analytics knowledge management networkingMany of us use learning management systems, and some of us even track students to support learning processes, but let's face it: tracking does not always result in clear visualization of the interactivity that is taken place amongst learners. Here is where SNAPP comes in. So how does it work? MORE >> -
LEARNING ON THE LEADING EDGE | TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 2012 Workday drops the Other Shoe(s): BigData Analytics, Recruiting, and Extensible Objects And best of all (as I discuss below), Workday can produce real-time reports and analytics very quickly (without the need to buy business intelligence software). Workday BigData Analytics. First, the one which I believe is the biggest (I spent 7 years in the data warehousing business, so I have an appreciation for the complexities of analytics). Workday introduced an end-to-end offering to extend its platform to become an open, highly scalable, BigData analytics systems for businesses. Second, Workday is now in a "high-service" analytics market. MORE >> -
CLO MAGAZINE | THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2012 How Analytics Can Lead to Employee Success Predictive analytics and statistical techniques can uncover hidden diamonds in the workforce. ” The central lesson from the above quote, voiced by Billy Beane in the movie “Moneyball,” is that analytics can be used to level the playing field and gain competitive advantage. “Sabermetrics,” a form of analytics, is now common practice in baseball for talent identification and management. The science of predictive analytics also has the potential to revolutionize talent identification and development in a business environment. MORE >>
