Bringing the magic of Canva to your EdApp microlessons

We are so thrilled to introduce our newest integration: EdApp x Canva!

Together with the world’s leading graphic design program, we’ve teamed up to help you create even more amazing microlessons. For those that might be unfamiliar, Canva allows users to create graphics, presentations, posters, animations, and just about every kind of visual content, giving creators the tools to create beautiful media content without having any knowledge or experience in graphic design.

Helping innovative tools like EdApp bring a better experience to educators is an integral part of Canva’s mission.
-Cameron Adams, Co-Founder & CPO, Canva

Now from within EdApp’s powerful authoring tool, you can choose from millions of images to easily create and add beautiful graphics, text, custom imagery, animations, video, and beyond with the magic of Canva. This integration enables the delivery of a truly bespoke learning experience that learners will love.

This level of personalization empowers you to deliver next-level quality to your learners. Accompanying relevant, high-quality images and video with your microlessons helps to embed content into long-term memory, creating a better understanding, and ultimately a stronger learning experience for your cohorts.

How imagery boosts learning

We know that incorporating imagery into learning content makes for better learning experiences and, in turn, results.  This has been backed by a collection of learning theories throughout history. The learning theories of Cognitivism, for example, were one of the first to acknowledge that different learner’s process and encode information in different ways, paving the way for more dynamic ways of successfully absorbing and applying the information in the future.

Based on these theories, and the acknowledgment of diversity in learning, 4 common learning styles have emerged.

  1. Visual learners. The visual learner absorbs information better by observing through pictures, graphics, and diagrams. Even if concepts are previously introduced in a different way, visual learners benefit from the reinforcement of visuals to have a better grasp of the material at hand.
  2. Auditory learners. Auditory learners generally have a better grasp of the information when they can listen to the information, whether learning for the first time or reinforcing information that they may have previously learned.
  3. Kinesthetic learners. These types of learners typically learn by ‘doing’. In order to master learning concepts, kinesthetic learners prefer to to be hands-on by putting theory into practice.
  4. Reading/writing learners. These types of learners master concepts through the written word. Reading/writing learners either prefer to learn through articles and books, writing concepts down, and finding definitions in writing.

Regardless of learning styles, studies show that imagery helps cement information into long-term memory, especially if it’s complemented with other elements such as text and video. The use of images in learning also helps cultivate a better understanding because the human brain naturally processes 90% of its information visually.

What’s also great about the Canva integration is that your EdApp microlessons can be even more bespoke, giving course creators the opportunity to cater to their audience on a more personal level. This also means that courseware on the EdApp platform can be even more interactive and vibrant with the addition of Canva media.

Just one week into our Canva integration, the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Here’s what some had to say:

“This is awesome. Genuinely a huge power up for all of our projects”
-Tim Gifford, LearnJam Co-founder“Breathtaking!”
-Jordan DeCoste, COO, Headversity“Love this! Started playing with it this weekend!”
-Kristy Louden, Instructional Designer, Design x Humanity“So cool. I am going to use this for my next project.”
-Uttam Shinde, Learning Experience Designer, Colgate-Palmolive
