I've run across a couple of interesting posts recently that seem to have spawned from a Business Week article - Scaling the Social Web. Hasn't eBay had social networking features for a long time? And doesn't Flickr (images), del.icio.us (bookmarks), etc. all have a social networking aspect to them?

Stephen Downes picked up my post on Facebook As a Learning Platform. He commented: To be clear, I do not think that Facebook itself is really a learning environment. Something like the social network operating system , maybe. All of that said, Facebook is surprising me in terms of how well it works as a platform.
