Who doesn't want to create engaging elearning? Sometimes, the mix of these factors means that you end up having to design simple and quick, linear courses - where every learner moves along only one predictable path in the course. I’d say that every l&d professional should have at least a basic level of competence in the design and development of digital learning content, at least those forms of content most relevant to the learning domain for which they are responsible. It is much, much harder to create a set of fully self-contained instructional materials than it is to develop the components – the explanations, the examples, the demonstrations, the practice exercises, the assessments.
I am becoming increasingly aware of the the need to make clear a distinction between the broad concept of digital learning content, in all its many varieties, and the much narrower idea of interactive tutorials of the traditional CBT (computer-based training) variety.

At ITM we are dabbling with Articulate Engage. One of our main concerns is trying to figure out whether Articulate Engage is something we can use in low resource areas. Articulate Engage is producing Flash content and as such is cross-platform, but the files are still very heavy. This list of Electronic Health Care/Medical Nevertheless it works with dial-up connections as well because of the swf-technology of prebuffering. Articulate Engage has some nice features: it is indeed really easy to use and it generates Flash content ( swf ) with just one push

I am becoming increasingly aware of the the need to make clear a distinction between the broad concept of digital learning content, in all its many varieties, and the much narrower idea of interactive tutorials of the traditional CBT (computer-based training) variety. In the former category I'd put the following: how-to guides slide shows, with or without narration podcasts videos software demos quizzes polls learning games visual aids I'd say that every l&d professional should have at least a basic level of competence in the design and

This time it was a 'conversation with' session with a group of instructional design students. Basically, they came up with the questions, I did the answers, we debated a bit, the whole lot was videoed, edited, converted to Flash video, assembled into an FAQ using Articulate Engage and then uploaded to the course website. In the first two parts of this posting I reflected first on the importance of visualisation to memory and then on the effect on both me as presenter and on my audience of the absence of any PowerPoint slides at a networking dinner I spoke at. Continue to help students understand, appreciate and become excited about the field of instructional design and technology. Contribute to Michael Allen's 2nd e-Learning annual. Write another book and create some products useful to people as they struggle to make sense of the fast and furious world of e-learning, learning and training. technologies and then instructional designers acting more like instructional assemblers.
