Fears of the Course Authoring Tool Market

Long has tools such as Studio and Captivate been on the higher side, the same can be said for vendors such as Rapid Intake and dominKnow. Articulate Storyline – $1,398 per license (they seem to be into the “everything must go” marketing angle where a “until the end of the month” is becoming a staple. Rapid Intake – Talk about price increase.

Last week, I attended DevLearn. suspected that the expo would feature a large quantity of rapid content authoring tools.  I wasn’t disappointed. While most people were oohing and awwing over Articulate’s Storyline, virtually no one was checking out Sh!FT’s Back in 2000, the knock on rapid content authoring tools were they “pre-template” driven solutions. Not only was it quite present at DevLearn, but in general, this is one of the new “hot” items in the space. One such vendor is Rapid Intake. Yes and No.

– This is a tool that for fans of Articulate who may want some additional capabilities might enjoy. Yes, it offers the social learning authoring features – robust actually, which most vendors in this space does not, but it has added task management and PENS. #7 Rapid Intake Unison – One of the first RCATs to offer collaborative capabilities on the net. The newest version adds an adaptive learning capability, which I saw first hand at DevLearn – it was extremely impressive and extremely rare in this space. Articulate  Studio – Stale.
