I’m asked to review courses all the time and one of the most frustrating things is to go through the course and find the developer has locked every slide. I usually put a button in one of the corners that gives me quick access to slides. Sometimes, the button just skips the slide. Create a slide with menu links.

I present at a lot of conferences and workshops. Live Transcriptions & Closed Captions in Google Slide Presentations. Here’s an example of live transcription and closed captions in Google Slides. I find the transcription on Google Slides is a lot faster and a bit more accurate than in PowerPoint.

This can be problematic because when you modify the aspect ratio of the slide, it means the existing content may get skewed or require a bunch of tweaking to get it re-aligned. I shared a cool 3D interaction in a recent workshop demo and have had lots of people ask how I built it. How to insert the 3D model in PowerPoint: Create a slide and then select a 3D object. Duplicate the slide (we’ll need this for the video). The first slide is the starting point from which the 3D object rotates.

However, if you go outside the box and edit the questions in slide view, you can make the quiz look like anything. In both examples above, we used the blank slide feature for most of the content and then added a multiple choice question to do the branching. A key is to see each slide (which becomes a Flash movie) as a piece of information. Many of the slides have the same core content because usually only a few things change over a series of slides. So instead of making copies of slides with the same stuff on them, put as much as you can on the master slide.

Fonts used to be a challenge in PowerPoint when sending or sharing your slide decks. If the recipient didn’t have the same font installed that you used to create the slides the whole thing could take an ugly and frustrating turn for the worse. Now your slides can look the same, no matter where you open them or who else views them.
