Sure the quality isn't as good but for internal clips embedded in Articulate courses, they're "good enough" for us. Typically they begin with a lot of subject matter content and they’re not quite sure how to make the course interactive. The worst thing is having to take an elearning course that is completely meaningless. Yet in many of the organizations I’ve worked, I’ve had to take courses on how not to receive bribes. I get a lot of requests for software demos and quick tutorials. Another challenge is that most screencasts are recorded at a higher resolution than used in the elearning courses. You may record a full screen demo and then have to squeeze it down to something like 1024×768. April 17 : Virginia ( SEVA ASTD ).

In a recent post we looked at ways to build interactive elearning even if using PowerPoint to build the courses. One of the demos I shared prompted lots of questions. Use as many layouts as you need to build your course. That’s a big time saver, especially if you hand the course off to someone else to maintain.

Of course, not everyone’s a big fan of infographics. That’s very similar to what we do when our subject matter expert hands us a 300-slide PowerPoint file to be converted to an elearning course. I also use screenshots when I run across a template or idea that I may want to use in a future elearning course. Grab a series of screenshots, place them on some slides, and then add hyperlinks to simulate the software like I did in this quick demo. How are you using screenshots in your elearning courses?
