I get a lot of questions about number of slides or screen count per hour of instruction. Don’t Auto-Advance Slides. The problem with this is that if the person is a fast reader, it’s frustrating to wait for the slide to catch up. If the person is a slow reader, they won’t get everything they need before the slide advances.

But there’s a difference between elearning courses and slide presentations. When it comes to presentations, it’s a blank slide waiting for content. In a presentation, the slide is all you see. Thus if you need to reinforce visual branding requirements, all you have is the slide area to do so. See the demo above.

Also, if you want to print out the PowerPoint files, you have to remove all of the animations from the slide. You still have to remove the objects if you want to print the slides. So there’s no building of animations or cluttering your slides with content you have to remove prior to printing. Then add hyperlinks to those slides.

For example, let’s say on slide one, you want an image to move from one side of the screen to the other. Then on slide two, you want to start with the image in the new position. You can copy and paste that onto the next slide and the object will be aligned to the end point of the animation on the previous slide.
