My guess is that most everyone who saw it prior to the session had taken my advice from long ago Stop Reading - Skim Dive Skim and really just skimmed it. Social Learning Communities It was interesting that ASTD DC / Todd Slater has created a Ning community. our LearnTrends site that’s hosted by Ning, is an issue. I recently posted my Top 10 eLearning Predictions for 2010 and did a presentation on the topic. I think there were more posts on Twitter from this conference in an hour than there were at ALL of ASTD. You can also check out the Ning community for the conference. Good stuff.... The real time twitter feed has been invaluable during this conference. Innovations in eLearning only has a couple hundred people attending.

This month's ASTD Big Question on the Learning Circuit's Blog is about Social Networking and finding help and expertise if you have a question or a concern for which you need input and/or advice. How to reach out and find expertise -How to use Social Media to Find Answers to Questions -How to Learn through Conversation And then the questions are even broken down further into more sub-questions which you can read for yourself at the original ASTD Blog posting Network Feedback . As we are wrapping up the week for Learn Trends , one of the questions we faced was what to do with the Ning community that sprung up to support the conference. Assessment, benchmarking, competencies, content development, course development, e-learning, EPSS (electronic performance support systems), evaluation, instructional systems design (ISD), job aids, knowledge management, learning characteristics, learning outcomes, learning styles, needs assessment, objectives, performance improvement, return on investment (ROI), strategic analysis, task analysis, tools for training and learning,

Ning really makes it easy to do one of these. If several people were interested in a topic, they can easily pull together a few speakers, create a ning group and set up a quick conference. ASTD Los Angeles' special interest groups (SIGs) are trying to figure out what it means when they start doing online sessions that are potentially available worldwide.
