If you want additional layouts to accommodate the different colors, just go into the slide master, duplicate the layout and change the color of the bulb. As always, I use the default template colors, so you’re free to easily modify the colors using PowerPoint’s color themes. Here’s a link to the free PowerPoint template.

As many do, we storyboard projects in Word and PowerPoint. Recently, Lectora launched a new tool that integrates PowerPoint slides directly into a Lectora project. The layout of my test took about half an hour setting up the Master slide and linking the subsequent slides (pages; screens).

Everything’s created in PowerPoint (another example of how great it is as an illustration tool). You can see an example in the demo below.

Instead of your normal click next navigation, you use icons to link to the slides in the course. What I’d do is treat each screen the same as a slide and then use clickable icons to reveal the course’s information. Here are a few ideas to think about if implementing this type of template: Each slide is a distinct screen.

My first suggestion if you’re working with PowerPoint is to step away from the original content. On a side note, check out the interactive scenario slides that David just uploaded this week. These slides are easy to re-use because all you really need to do is swap out the images and text content. All of the animations should remain intact if you’re using PowerPoint 2007+. In a previous post I shared how to create the graphic elements for that course in PowerPoint. If you use Quizmaker ‘09, make sure to take advantage of the Slide View feature. Another issue is when working with PowerPoint. We tend to gravitate towards the templates and placeholder structure that PowerPoint provides. The first thing I recommend is to get rid of the templates and placeholders, and start with a blank slide.
