ASTD International Conference Day 1 Wrap-Up

eLearning 24-7

Welcome one and all to the wrap up of the ASTD international conference and expo. First day cool product of the show. Why hasn’t ASTD figured out how to do things right. Once again, ASTD dropped the ball. Apparently there must be a huge demand for scalping ASTD badges or hood winking ASTD for access into their show. If I could give ASTD a grade it would be a massive F. Gamelearn – Last year’s cool product of the show is back with a new game on negotiation. I’ll be blunt – it’s fun. Leapfactor. ID please.

The product comes in two flavors – a simple and a more robust. Comes with App store and gadget store , where you can download and install into your product – the apps are like objects created by them and others, and gadgets are widget like things – them and end users; oh the majority are free, but if as an end user created one and wanted to sell it – you could. It really doesn’t get any easier then using this product, but while it is not ideal as a standalone it is perfect as a component within your course. loved the lip synch of that tune.

Back for another installment of the ASTD international trade show. Let me paint you a picture. I am checking out a soft skills course specifically for mobile. I see that they are showing smartphones in their booth will their product. What that means is that the product was SaaS so you could see it via your mobile browser.

Three Great Takeaways from ASTD 2012

Mindflash

When I registered for the  ASTD International Conference & Expo 2012  over a month ago, I planned to write a recap post for two reasons: First, it’s a chance to share what I learned so people who couldn’t attend might learn something from my experience. That gathering gave me new ideas about ways to use Yammer in new and productive ways. Insights from Yammer.

Analysis of ASTD International Conference and Expo 2013

eLearning 24-7

It’s the yearly review of the ASTD International Conference and Expo. From the hijinks of no continental breakfast (who hoo!) to the expo vendors who forgot to bring any type of product example to the show – this event will go down in history!  First off, this part is going to sound like I’m bashing ASTD, and perhaps to a degree I am. It is not like this is the first go around for our beloved association in having a conference and trade show.  If you were a volunteer to ASTD, this is not about you – it is solely about ASTD. Excellence in Customer Training: A Roche Case Study

Bottom-Line Performance

In markets where the products being sold are highly complex, customer training is essential to help make the sale and retain customers. Teaching someone how to use your product effectively is at near parity with the quality of the product itself! That’s why a huge component of a large  product launch is often a refreshed approach to customer training. Who is Roche?

Debuts of a few products that intrigued me. An ILT product that has so much e-learning potential and recognized it as a possibility down the road – I respect that!  : ). Generally speaking, I didn’t see a lot of e-learning new vendors making their debut – i.e. for their product – a shame really. should note this was the same issue at ASTD in Dallas, where your only options were “difficult to find coffee cart”, “bring your own” or “Starbucks” Guess what?  Who is the 2014 ASTD Product of the show?
