Audacity is an open source audio editor. I usually record my audio directly in the rapid elearning tools. However, if I have a larger project, then I like to break my production up into chunks and keep my audio separate. I mainly use it to convert FLV to other media for easy editing since I can’t find an easy FLV editor.

By contrast, audio, video, and data streamed to Flash clients using Flash Media Server are not cached on local client machines. Of course, the same is true of the other formats.

If you can barely hear the narrator, you can use audio editing software like Adobe Audition or Soundbooth to fix it. Export to a format that Captivate supports, like FLV, and then import it into the program. There are apps for that!
