A Big Week for E-Learning Authoring Tools

Lots of good stuff happening this week!  On Monday, Articulate announced their much-anticipated release of Studio ’13, which includes Presenter, Engage, and Quizmaker along with a new video utility called Replay.  This big change for Studio (which is available as an upgrade for $499 or as a full purchase for $1395) is that you can now output to HTML5 to be iPad compatible.  It has also incorporated a number of features from Storyline, including characters, drag-and-drop activities, and customizable question feedback layers.  Here’s a list of the new features as well as a comparison between the two.  And if you follow the ASTD Learning Circuits Blog, look for my post in the next few days that talks more about the difference between the two.

The eLearning Guild just released their eLearning Authoring Tools 2013 report.  I always look forward to the report because it tells me who is using what and why.  It combines feedback from 1,055 survey respondents as well as interviews with various industry experts.  You do need to be a member of the Guild to access the report.  And for those of you who will be at their DevLearn conference later this month, be sure to track me down to say, “Hi!” and maybe even hit one of my sessions.

Finally, we are hiring for an authoring tools trainer.  Demand has grown for our seminars and webinars on Studio, Storyline, Captivate, and Lectora.  If you are an expert on at least two of these and are a fantastic trainer, then we want to talk to you.  You can find details on the Storyline community.
