Around the Rustici office, it’s fairly common to hear that eLearning standards move at a glacial pace. The IEEE board approved “ IEEE 9274.1.1-2023 Authorization. Authorization was removed from the standard, but it had only really been loosely defined in the original specification. x lines for years (decades).

In 2003, the eLearning startup I worked for shuttered its doors as our customers moved to adopt SCORM, and we had no idea how to do that. My job was to help author SCORM 2004, focusing on how to develop content that would work in SCORM systems. They conducted one-on-one interviews with many eLearning professionals.
