4 Reasons for staff training

Companies adopting mobile learning, or mLearning are shaping training and development departments in companies in a myriad of industries. Mobile learning for staff training is essential in our current tech-dominated world. Here’s why.

The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU)’s new global study indicated a substantial link between employee engagement and a mobile-first work environment. The study also discovered that ‘tech current’ companies found a 16% increase in productivity and a significant boost in loyalty.

We have done the hard work for you and have gathered four of the most important reasons why the adoption of mobile learning, in the form of microlearning modules, is essential for successful staff training.

1. Adopting mobile learning challenges traditional standards of work

Changes from traditional work standards encapsulate the shift to information and entertainment being readily available for users’ consumption. This enables us to continually learn on-the-go, and at our own pace and convenience. Although millennials are the major culprits, this is also relevant to a vaster and more multigenerational audience. The preference to access training courses through mLearning is growing amongst us all, facilitating a ceaseless build-up of new knowledge and skills.

2. Perpetuates a work-life balance

A work-life balance is vital for our mental and physical health and must be prioritized. One of the many benefits of mobile learning is its ability to be flexible enough to promote the importance of time away from the desk. As we say goodbye to the 9-5 era, employees are given more options today, being able to work flexible hours, as well as working away from the office. This also calls for mobile learning to provide training that is suited to this flexibility.

3. Acknowledges the learning preferences of employees

According to Workforce 2020, it can be inferred from figure 1 that approximately 57% of retail employees say that their company does not provide adequate tools to facilitate their growth and job performance, as well as only 33% agreeing that the company is able to provide the training they need.

Staff training - acknowledge the learning preferences of employees

Acknowledging the learning preferences of employees can be easily achieved through the use of mobile learning for effective staff training. This is a direct result of the implementation as employees are able to complete their training modules on their own terms, wherever and whenever they wish.

4. Efficient distribution of learning

With the adoption of mobile learning, companies are able to distribute learning materials to employees at a much faster rate. This is particularly useful to industries experiencing constant changes in areas such as IT, product training and marketing. Iteration and growth in companies is the new norm for most industries and staff training needs to adjust to this to keep up with demand.
