Adobe Captivate – They were not the first authoring tool in the industry; Authorware was the first commercial success, heavily used with CBT, and then even into WBT (web-based). EdTech driver, whose impact started to appear in the late 90s.

Storyline and ZebraZapps: seriously powerful, seriously simple

What I saw was still in beta and with no definite launch date, but it looked in good shape to me and so it's probably only a few months away. Storyline is a desktop authoring tool which Articulate would probably position alongside their current Studio suite of Presenter, QuizMaker and Engage, but for me this is definitely a replacement.

The authoring tools have definitely evolved over the years. That made it easier to share my ideas with our Flash developers.

He is definitely challenged and thinking a lot about training standards. However, it all settled down to roughly Toolbook, Authorware and IconAuthor. The amount of innovation and change and number of choices definitely makes it harder to decide how to approach things. I've not met Bill before, and this was a great way to start.
