Recently, I have been asked about blogging a few times, both from friends and professionally. I was asked how to make your blog searchable, how do people find the blogs, can a blog be found by searching on Google or other search engines? There are so many really useful sites out there that teach you various tips and tricks of blogging that I really wondered what value I had to add. I am no authority in blogging, so IM’very’HO I shared my blogging experiences with them. There are syndication sites where you can post register your blog.
Is Blogging Dying?
Designed for Learning
JULY 24, 2010
I recently read an article in The Economist highlighting a report that shows that "the rate of growth of blogs has slowed in many parts of the world. Yes, perhaps it is true that blogging is growing at a far lesser rate than it was 10 years ago. But I don't think blogging is dying! Since 2004, many Analysts have written about how social-media is just a fad and how twitter and facebook status messages will eventually take over blogging. If we were to believe reports, then in 2007 Gartner predicted that blogging will peak in 2008 and then it will fizzle out.
Long Tail Blogging is Dying?
JULY 2, 2009
Just read an article in the Guardian The long tail of blogging is dying (Found via Donald Clark ). But recently – over the past six months – a new trend: fewer blogs with links, and fewer with any contextual comment. He points to backup evidence of this from a NYT article and based on Technorati's 2008 survey of the state of the blogosphere , which found that only 7.4m out of the 133m blogs it tracks had been updated in the past 120 days. Blogging definitely takes work. What about eLearning blogs? This somewhat supports the Technorati numbers.

Stephen Downes post Measuring Your Blog's Outcomes and Use of Other Social Media Tools has a couple of good comments and he points to Beth Kanter's Measuring Your Blog's Outcomes and Use of Other Social Media Tools which also has good comments and some nice links to other posts on the subject. The point of the discussion is roughly that there are different ways to measure your blogs success based on different purposes. tend to agree with Stephen: Measuring "your blog's outcome" is ridiculous. My personal measures of success for my blog are: Is it helping me to learn?

Blogs, Community and Discussion Tracking - What's Really Needed

I received some great questions from Christy Tucker in reference to my recent post Types of Blog Discussions I have started using CoComment based on your mention of it a while back. It does satisfy a bit of curiousity around "Who's visiting my blog?" What's sorely lacking in the combination of these tools is full support for Blog Discussions. Then discussion ensues via a combination of comments on the original post and via posts in other blogs. still don't do enough commenting, but I'm doing more now.So

Some bug in Google's software then rendered my blog as a complete dog's dinner of code. After all, I'd been using it for six years. I had links to all my favourite blogs, assorted badges, and code snippets to Google Analytics, Technorati and all sorts of other stuff.
