6) Can you comment on the advantages/disadvantages of company-created social sites (private networking sites) vs public sites such as Twitter and Facebook. 8) We are in the brainstorming sessions of creating a blog and podcast. I'd think that's a compelling internal blog and/or podcast. Not sure I even know how to answer this.

I actually think that Facebook and Ning are heading in the right direction by becoming platforms for social networking solutions. and then resume the more ad hoc mixture of blogs I've been using for many years. LinkedIn requires even less ongoing work and is a FANTASTIC resource when you are looking for expertise.

Even if you are a member of LinkedIn, you may not have links to people in the right fields. I try to get people into my networks when I meet them (for example connect on LinkedIn). If you've never approached a few people for a conversation on a topic via LinkedIn, then you should make that happen within the next month.

So I first went back to what I wrote about last year: Some of the more specific memories from 2006: I started my blog in February 2006. I had a real "aha experience" after using add-ins to provide features inside my blog. We had discussed Wikis, Blogs and were embarking on Second Life. I started using del.icio.us Help Needed!

For example, if you build something that integrates with Facebook, Twitter, etc. If you can integrate with Facebook, Twitter, or similar products and you have some kind of viral aspect, then that could make you more interesting. And if you are able to use it with twitter, Facebook, etc. Islands have a hard time making it.

My post on learning goals has some great feedback via comments and a couple of blog posts. Having someone write a discussion item, blog post, or whatever that is the ultimate outcome that we are going for is really something that I would push for in hindsight. Particularly, there still needs to be Learning Outcomes defined.
