20 years ago I was a struggling recent college graduate who had moved to Boston in the middle of a recession. I learned my first ID model: instruct, demo, practice, assess. We created custom elearning programs in Flash. We do a lot of work in Flash and Articulate, but see ourselves as tool agnostic.

A few years back, one of our Flash developers was a little behind on a project to create a flash-based video player for one of our courses. Of course, since he was an experienced Flash programmer (who took pride in his programming chops) he hemmed and hawed about why rapid elearning sucked and how it was better if he did it on his own.

They’ve also got cartoon assets and some animated flash characters. Saved me hours of work and made our demo look professional. Images are removed from the background (transparent), and can be superimposed onto any background to interact with any other character. Check out the little scenario I worked up in about five minutes.

It seems to me that a lot of companies really want a lot of the micro (the job descriptions require Flash, Captivate, etc.) Lots of simulations. My boss had an educational technology degree from Harvard.
