It is a way to start the event on a virtual basis prior to the start and then continue the conversations afterwards and provide an archive for what happen and what people thought about it. It seems now that more conference events are sponsoring these blogs and trying to aggregate those blogging the conference.

and she provides this picture: It shows that while we slowly approach real-time, realistic virtual conversations, it still isn't quite the same thing as being there. In Boston, I'm going to do it again. Unfortunately, it's difficult to know who is going to Boston (eLearningGuild) or Atlanta (ASTD). Point taken.
