Kens scaffolding is a great example. As a simplistic example, if I had to cut corners, Id probably cut those for high-end graphics in order to build richer examples, rather than skimping on examples so as to have production-value graphics. If thats the model corporate learning has moved to, where does the ID fit in?

On top of that a comic-like layout breaks the content into panels which allows you to control the pacing and flow of information as each panel progressively reveals more. Another value in exploration is that it allows the learner to determine what information is relevant or not. For example, if I know how to do something I can skip over that content and get to the content that I’m not sure about. Unfortunately most of the elearning courses I see are linear and not very interactive.

As a rule of thumb, once I get three or more slides with the same information, I try to put as much as I can on the master slide so it’s easier to edit and maintain.
