There was some consternation on Twitter about the results of the survey that Alison Rossett and James Marshall conducted with 968 ASTD and eLearning Guild members in mid 2009. Well, surprise, surprise, that seems like wishful thinking. In reality it’s very much same old, same old. The trouble is that, in many cases, the experts, i.e.

met Cammy Bean at an eLearning Guild event in Boston, having followed her blog Learning Visions for some time. Blogging connections certainly make the world a smaller place. As a result we went on to collaborate in putting together the 60-minute masters , a curriculum for an e-learning course for rapid e-learning designers.

This weekend I'll be heading to San Jose for the eLearning Guild's DevLearn 2008 conference. Last year I managed to miss my plane and had to fly in and out in a day (see Senior Moments ). On Wednesday 12th at 10.45 I'll be presenting a concurrent session called Using the Content Pyramid to Maximize Your Learning Strategy.

I've been browsing the recent publication from the eLearning Guild - a compilation of the best articles from the Learning Solutions e-magazine from the past five years (Pfeiffer, 2008). There are plenty of interesting ideas in here to chew on, but what I like most about the Guild's publications and events is the practical how-to stuff.

After the eLearning Guild event in Boston I was reflecting with Kineo 's Matt Fox about the sessions that had captured his imagination. Matt inferred it was a classic and, seeing that this one had passed me by, I had to get a copy. couldn't resist sharing with you all the key points that I'll be taking forward. Enough disclaimers.

I attended the panel discussion on 'the future of rapid e-learning tools' at the eLearning Guild's Annual Gathering in Boston today with a misunderstanding. thought I knew what 'rapid e-learning' meant. Notice how similar these definitions are? They both refer to the authors of this rapid content as being SMEs.

Yesterday eLearning Guild announced their Member's Choice Awards for Learning Management Systems (LMS). Award for market share - Education and Government Learning Management Systems - Gold award: Moodle (the Platinum went to Blackboard). LMSs (Saba, SumTotal, SkillPort, etc.) Perhaps they use an LMS and a VLE. Interesting times

I saw Michael Allen speak for the first time at the eLearning Guild's Annual Gathering in Boston. So, a longer train journey this time, and enough hours to skim through Michael's new book Creating Successful e-Learning (Pfeiffer - do they publish everything? 2006). ADDIE, rapid? Were they having a laugh?) Right, understatement.

The eLearning Guild ’s mLearnCon event was fabulous (as their events always are). It’s been quite a while since I’ve blogged, and it’s not that there haven’t been learnings, it’s just that my dance card was too too full. It was small and intimate, but with a palpable sense of excitement. Social.

Temple Smolen, writing in Learning Solutions Magazine, has done a thoughtful dive into the data to look more at The Gender Pay Gap in e-Learning ( a rant we started when we first read the eLearning Guild's 2010 Salary Report! The gap is real. So what's a woman to do? If not, chart a course to enact a small change for you or your team.

Even eLearning doesn’t lend itself as effective reference-ware in a work context. Jane Hart’s blog is the first place I visit each morning (her eLearning pick of the day); her site(s) have much to offer. The Elearning Guild is probably my second most frequently-visited site. You can contact him on LinkedIn. Please!).

Fourth and last webinar for the day, is yet another Elearning Guild webinar. Tags: elearning guild webinar This one's a real life case study for enterprise collaboration by Lisa Choi, Beth Branick and Wendie Whelan from Advantage Sales and Marketing. My hands are kinda wobbly! So what's their story? First things first.
