One of my clients is considering using PowerPoint as a development tool. Although they will probably convert the PowerPoint to Flash and distribute in this way, they also want to make the PowerPoint files available for users who wish to make modifications to the materials. A Link to PowerPoint Viewer.

I was interested in Cammy Bean's News Flash:PowerPoint bad for learning. In a survey by Communicate Using Technology (link no longer valid), the number one most annoying thing about bad PowerPoint presentations was seen as "the speaker reading the slides to us". But is this the fault of PowerPoint? It's almost impossible.

Powerpoint is for ideas. Tags: powerpoint There are nine, but this is my favorite. Lee Pay by the word. Here's the deal: You should have to put $5 into the coffee fund for every single word on the wordiest slide in your deck. 400 words costs $2000. If that were true, would you use fewer words? lot fewer? Two if you have to.

PowerPoint + video > synchronised delivery. Tags: PowerPoint No sooner had I posted about the three solutions I had been considering for making slide shows available online as stand-alone content, than a rush of new options comes to light - isn't that the joy of online communities? Prezi > video. Live > video. Any more ideas?

I use Powerpoint in some of the workshops I run, not all, but when it suits the audience, venue and most importantly learning objectives. That said, Powerpoint can have its place. So I've put together a list of 10(+1) tips for using Powerpoint more effectively. Avoid overuse of Powerpoint SmartArt Graphics. How much text?

I was interested to read in Donald Clark's review of Learning 2005 that Elliott had decreed that there should be no PowerPoint at the show. However, I wonder whether PowerPoint is really the guilty party here. Surely, all this software sets out to do is to help us support our presentations with visual aids. Who's fault is this?
