If you are a sales person and want to learn how to pitch, why start at “what is sales ? It is seen quite often in people building their own courses, but some online learning vendors have – for whatever reason – become entrenched in this philosophy that is how WBT should be, and frankly they are plain wrong.

If you could have your real time Twitter, Linkedin feeds, Facebook and some other social media capability, and your end user did not have to open any other screens, what is the likelihood, that your system would increase in sales? Or do they just drop the word, “social media , and rather say, “social learning and web 2.0″?

Sale Yourself! You do not have to be a salesperson or have the sales skill sets to make this happen, just be confident about your company, your training department and that is all you will need. If you are a major client – who has spent a fortune on your LMS/LCMS you do have the option – to ask to speak to the VP of sales or whoever is the Big Dog of sales. Always rave or think highly of your sales person, since you will have to deal with them after going this route. So, what do you do? Additional cost.

A significant portion of the LMS vendors you are leaving, will have their VP of Sales or whomever at that level call you to see what they can do. This is not a marketing or sales pitch angle, and that has been made clear to the vendors. This is part two, of the series – Out with the old LMS into the new. Have them pay you back.

while back he posted a question looking for ideas on building an interactive sales course. Many of you are either working alone or on very small teams with limited resources. With some creativity, you can do quite a bit. In fact, many of my tips and tricks came from working in a similar situation. You really are left to fend for yourself.

With our business simulations for sales (for which we won the Brandon Hall Award in 2009) and customer support, for example, we have seen drastic improvements in performance and performance assessment at a scale much beyond the reach of the traditional classroom. Traditional face to face classroom training has its own advantages.

Is it possible to deliver sales training online? Depending on the nature of the sales beast so to speak, will drive the acceptance of delivering some or most of your training virtually, either via an elearning solution or blended with a live virtual coach. the only audience harder than sales are probably trainers themselves!).
