Do you not want to pay for expensive software licenses? Do you not want to hire an administrator? Do you want your content to be indexed and searchable? Let me Google that for you! All you need is an e-Learning authoring tool that publishes to HTML and a web server. You can gain access to extensive usage statistics using Google Analytics ([link] Just sign up once, obtain a Tracker ID and add a small snippet of code to the HTML sources of your e-Learning content. Did we just kill the future of Learn Management Systems? | SANA EASY BLOGGERS MAY 10, 2010 Is Google Analytics the next LMS? (continued) Last week we shared our visions on using Google services (such as Analytics) as an alternative to expensive LMS software. Judging from the many responses, re-blogs and re-tweets we received, this topic struck a vibe in the e-Learning community. Some readers (amongst which George Aston) wonder how you can determine which users have actually passed the courses. Of course, Google Analytics was never intended as a full-flex LMS, we merely make use of the reporting and statistic features of it. Nevertheless, we have some ideas on that. will take Sana EasyGenerator as an example. | | | | | | | SANA EASY BLOGGERS MAY 20, 2010 How to enrich your free Google based LMS We now a couple of times shared our visions on using Google services (such as Analytics) as an alternative to LMS software. Let’s take it to the next level by adding more free Web 2.0 services directly into the content, thus creating a real social learning community! Probably you would like to enable your learners to discuss the content, possibly even ask questions to subject matter experts. Using Google ([link] we stumble upon a large number of free forum providers. Let’s take the first hit, FreeForums.org ([link] as an example. Your learners just need to register themselves once. | SANA EASY BLOGGERS JUNE 22, 2010 Generic custom courseware e-Learning is not as efficient as it could be. It is interesting to see that more companies realize that it is a waste of time and money to keep reinventing wheels that already exist. But take subjects as compliance or maybe new upcoming financial ethics that are being pushed by governments. They are mandatory for every financial institution in the world, e-Learning would be great to train this, but generic courses are not the answer. They don’t get the real attention of the learner and cultural differences are not to be generalized. | SANA EASY BLOGGERS MAY 3, 2010 What about community driven Content Development? There is a lot going on about communities, social media, Facebook, Twitter and other web 3.0 like stuff. can only speak for myself but I find this rather frustrating. can’t get a grip on what it really is. If I twitter to my colleagues something that is new to them, is that than automatically social learning? Because when it is, it is just a new label that we now place on stuff we’ve been doing for ages in several ways. Oh well, I guess it’s me… But I would kindly like to introduce a new buzzword: Community Driven Content Development. will start with explaining my ideas around it. | SANA EASY BLOGGERS MAY 10, 2010 Is Google Analytics the next LMS? SANA EASY BLOGGERS | FRIDAY, JUNE 25, 2010 Pearson saves Ning for educators A small update in our continuing saga about the Google based LMS. Just last month I wrote about ning.com turning their service in a paid one. Today they issued a press release , stating that it will remain free for educational purposes. Pearson will sponsor the service in this case. This is a very good example of how a Web 2.0 service is not only adopted by educators all over the world, but is also saved by a large multinational with world-leading businesses in education, business information and consumer publishing. Of course, you should not mind the occasional banner or advertisement. MORE >> -
SANA EASY BLOGGERS | MONDAY, MAY 31, 2010 If HTML5 is the answer, what was the question? Recently, Steve Jobs announced they will not be supporting Flash in their iPod and iPhone OS. So far, Windows Mobile 6.5 and Android are also not yet supporting it. This is a tough call for all those e-Learning authoring tools that rely so strongly on Flash. Next to Flash, our tool EasyGenerator currently also uses DHTML for some of the question interactions. But the content management system on which it is based, only processes HTML/XML and as such, is open to any other plug-in available. We have seen Silverlight and Unity3D working in it as well. SANA EASY BLOGGERS | FRIDAY, MAY 21, 2010 How Internet and e-Learning reunite We see more demand for Web 2.0 technologies in the e-Learning world. On the other hand, web sites are becoming more like knowledge centers for products, services and companies. They are expected to answer questions. Take for instance Wikipedia – where everybody can spread his own knowledge. An interesting development, the differences between the two worlds is becoming harder to determine. Some personal history: Sana is part of a bigger company that has been developing web sites since about the time Internet became mainstream. They were upgraded with forums, wiki’s and chat. MORE >> -
SANA EASY BLOGGERS | THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 2011 Making scorm publications more dynamic When you create and publish e-Learning content through scorm packages you always encounter some problems. In essence scorm is a wrapper around your content giving you interoperability between systems, but at the same time making your content more rigid, you are limited by the bounderies of scorm. In the spirit of the recently announced e- Learning piranha network A New Spring and easygenerator have combined forces to solve some of this problems. Publishing and updating. Publishing a scorm package to a LMS is often a lot of work. Capturing user feedback. Tracking and tracing. MORE >>
