Declining training budgets, classroom utilization & attendance, and increases in incomplete e-learning courses are but a few indicators we all see today. This may not be fact, but if your training budget decreased for next year, somebody with the purse strings simply did not see the value.

The slamming in that scenario is the sound trainers make when downsized because of training shortfalls and declining training budgets. The slamming body part of that expanded scope only happens when the scope is not allowed to expand. Now there is a threat worth generating a little angst over. The expanded focus; therefore, is not a shift.

Agreed, training budgets are shrinking and free-lance trainers and owners of training companies are wringing their hands searching for the next big thing. I agree, but only in part. We were seeing signs of this before the economy went bust. Tough times have just turned up the light shining on a significant opportunity.
