Top 15 Best Paying Jobs for 2018

U.S. News and World Report’s Best Paying Jobs list for 2018 indicates employees in the medical, business and tech fields made the most money this year. While most medical jobs require high levels of education and training, U.S. News shows that the years of education will pay off in salary and job stability.

In developing its best paying jobs ranking for the year, U.S. News looked at U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics information on jobs with the most projected openings between 2016 and 2026. Then, the publication looked at each occupation’s salary to compile its list of the best paying jobs for 2018.

The top five jobs each have a median annual salary of $208,000 and an unemployment rate of 0.5 percent or less.

In determining rankings, U.S. News also took the number of anticipated job openings into account.

Here are the 15 best paying jobs for 2018:

1. Anesthesiologist

Median salary: $208,000

Unemployment rate: 0.5 percent

2. Surgeon

Median salary: $208,000

Unemployment rate: 0.5 percent

Job openings between 2016 and 2026: 7,600

3. Obstetrician and Gynecologist

Median salary: $208,000

Unemployment rate: 0.5 percent

4. Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon

Median salary: $208,000

Unemployment rate: 0.5 percent

Job openings between 2016 and 2026: 1,200

5. Orthodontist

Median salary: $208,000

Unemployment rate: 0.4 percent

Job openings between 2016 and 2026: 1,100

6. Physician

Median salary: $196,380

Unemployment rate: 0.5 percent
