Event Recap: ATD TechKnowledge 2015

As January comes to a quick end, it has already been fun and exciting 2015 here at Artisan E-Learning! Two weeks ago, Diane and I attended (and presented at) the 2015 ATD TechKnowledge conference in Las Vegas. For those of you unable to attend, here’s a recap of our sessions and some of the resources we shared, which you might find useful.

To kick things off, Diane and I spent our first two days facilitating ATD’s Articulate Storyline Certificate Program. When the full conference began, we presented a fast-paced concurrent session to show our top tips, secrets, and time-savers in Articulate Storyline (download/print the handout here). In addition to the tips we shared, we had a few audience members share some of their own tips. For example, Preston Kelly shared a great tip for copying/pasting scenes to rearrange them in Storyline:

Have you ever gotten frustrated because your scenes in Story view are numbered differently than you want them? Here’s a quick way to fix the numbering. If you want a scene to be number 1, select it, cut it, click in the background so that nothing is selected, and paste it. That will be your new scene 1. If you want your scene to be a specific number, you would still start by selecting it and cutting it. From there, select the scene with the number just before the number you want.  (So if you want it to be scene 4, select scene 3.) Then paste the scene, and it will be the new number 4.

I had the opportunity (not once, but twice!) to teach a hands-on session to demonstrate how to gamify a course in Articulate Storyline. We were excited to have two standing-room-only sessions, and everyone enjoyed learning some simple tricks that will let them add game-like elements to their courses without spending a lot of time on it. Because Diane served as a member of the Program Advisory Committee, she had the great opportunity to introduce the final keynote and close out the conference.
