When I think of video, I think of people recording something with their video cameras, smartphones, tablets and other electronic means. Oh, and this was happening over 3.5 years ago – and still being used today. Well, video is in the misleading category.

Learner captures video via a device – could be mobile, or a digital camera or digital camcorder (yes, the latter two are still being used – and honestly, the video capture quality is significantly better). For me, its empowerment will have to be used via three mechanisms. Learner uploads video.

Cannot interface with digital textbooks – which I see as a continuing growing market. Can zero in with a mobile device in recording, even with a DV camera – so it is not just a wide shot when recording – which is awesome function for product demonstrations, heck even when showing someone how to do whatever.

I would add that the ability to upload via a digital camera or camcorder is not universal. Uploading video from a mobile device is going to happen (it already has with many vendors). However, the ability to do things with that video once uploaded is another matter. Here are some items I see within the whole mobile video forecast.

Those that refuse to enable e-learning authoring tools in the “Cloud&# will go the route of Polaroid who waited too long to get into the market for digital cameras and then when they did, they never recovered or the buggy whip.

I’d rather have you send me notes written on an old typewriter than stick it online. The one which was a mixed bag (you could argue 9.5/10)
