Adobe has announced a free update to its popular Adobe Captivate 8 software. To get the update, choose  Help > Updates  from within the Captivate program. Once the update is installed, your new Captivate version will be  8.0.1.242. The update fixes several bugs and includes some nice enhancements.

I've found that when Captivate gets sluggish on my computer or crashes, it's because I've got too many applications running and not enough resources. If you're using Adobe Captivate 7 for the Macintosh, it's possible you've been bitten by the spell-check bug. Captivate 7 crashes when you choose  Project > Check Spelling. I've learned that the crash does not occur if you have Captivate 6 installed on your Macintosh (or other CS6 application).
