I find that I prefer courses that contain the following characteristics: Don’t look like rehashed Microsoft PowerPoint slides. Seeing a course with Clipart from 1998 is distracting more than anything. As you would probably expect, the answer to this question is likely to have a variety of answers. This is painful.

Apply transition effects to slides and slide layers, use motion paths to make an object move along a path that you decide, or use triggers to decide when the object should move. And if you are looking for a cinematic effect of a camera zooming across the slide, check out the Pan and Zoom option that can emphasize multiple objects.

Do not use clipart. Use the following MS PowerPoint features as intended: paragraph spacing, line spacing, headers and footers, master slides and layouts. If you must have several bullet points on slides or in documents, do not go beyond level two. Same rule applies for ALL CAPs. Bolding and underlining all caps is THE WORST.

Slides that contained too much text in colours and sizes that were too hard to read and more bullets than Ned Kelly's last stand! If the answer is a slide then use one/two/more! then use this - don't just use slides because you can !

You can also start with existing slides or a policy PDF, if you already have them in your content files, and break them down into smaller pieces. Avoid bad imagery such as artificial stock images, blurry images, MS Office 97 clipart. Delete unused triggers, layers and slide masters. Don’t be lazy with graphic design: standard fonts, overuse of bullet points, predictable screen layout. Ensure your lists use the same indent spacing. Always label your objects in the timeline.

In that case, slide notes doesn’t work. Use comments on the slide. Add off-slide content. You can also hide slides, too.

I look for the ones I use most often and like to have them available with the fewest clicks. I don’t really care if they’re in the other tabs. Paste as PNG. Edit points.
