Cloud LMS on AWS Region London - Benefits, Security & PrivacyAt Docebo, we’re focused, first and foremost, on creating and delivering a cloud-based LMS ☁️that our customers love. A cloud LMS stores a ton of data though, and not only do we want you to love the product itself, but we want you to feel secure using it. That’s why we rely on Amazon Web Services (AWS), so that we can offer a high-performing, reliable cloud-based LMS product to the learning & development marketplace that keeps your data and your people safe (because we consider your people as our people too).

In light of Brexit, we want you to know that your data is precious – and we take it seriously. With AWS hosting our platform, we’re able to confidently stand by the security of your data, disaster recovery, and business continuity, and ensure your data can be reliably accessed at all times by permitted parties, all while still providing you with a faster and improved user experience that you love. If your organisation houses data in the UK, you’re free to keep your Docebo platform and all that lies within it closer to home, all thanks to the AWS Europe (London) region.

But what does this really mean for you? We asked AWS some questions to get you the answers you need. Let’s dig in – we’re here to help (and so is AWS).

What are the advantages for Docebo customers having implemented the solution on AWS cloud infrastructure? 🤔

Agility

The cloud gives you easy access to a broad range of technologies so that you can innovate faster and build nearly anything that you can imagine. You can quickly spin up resources as you need them–from infrastructure services, such as compute, storage, and databases, to Internet of Things, machine learning, data lakes and analytics, and much more.

You can deploy technology services in a matter of minutes, and get from idea to implementation several orders of magnitude faster than before. This gives you the freedom to experiment, test new ideas to differentiate customer experiences, and transform your business.

Elasticity

With cloud computing, you don’t have to over-provision resources up front to handle peak levels of business activity in the future. Instead, you provision the amount of resources that you actually need. You can scale these resources up or down to instantly grow and shrink capacity as your business needs change.

Cost savings

The cloud allows you to trade capital expenses (such as data centers and physical servers) for variable expenses, and only pay for IT as you consume it. Plus, the variable expenses are much lower than what you would pay to do it yourself because of the economies of scale.

Deploy globally in minutes

With the cloud, you can expand to new geographic regions and deploy globally in minutes. For example, AWS has infrastructure all over the world, so you can deploy your application in multiple physical locations with just a few clicks. Putting applications in closer proximity to end users reduces latency and improves their experience.

Is the AWS Cloud secure? 🔐

Using AWS, you will gain the control and confidence you need to securely run your business with the most flexible and secure cloud computing environment available today. As an AWS customer, you will benefit from AWS data centers and a network architected to protect your information, identities, applications, and devices. With AWS, you can improve your ability to meet core security and compliance requirements, such as data locality, protection, and confidentiality with our comprehensive services and features.

AWS allows you to automate manual security tasks so you can shift your focus to scaling and innovating your business. Plus, you pay only for the services that you use. All customers benefit from AWS being the only commercial cloud that has had its service offerings and associated supply chain vetted and accepted as secure enough for top-secret workloads.

Benefits

  • Scale securely with superior visibility and control
  • Automate and reduce risk with deeply integrated services
  • Build with the highest standards for privacy and data security
  • Largest ecosystem of security partners and solutions
  • Inherit the most comprehensive security and compliance controls

What is AWS’s stance on privacy? 🛑

At AWS, customer trust is our top priority. We deliver services to millions of active customers, including enterprises, educational institutions, and government agencies in over 190 countries. Our customers include financial services providers, healthcare providers, and governmental agencies, who trust us with some of their most sensitive information. Visit the Data Privacy FAQ page to learn more.

Has AWS changed its policy regarding moving customer data from one region to another? 📍

As a customer, you control your content.

  • You determine where your content will be stored, including the type of storage and geographic region of that storage.
  • You choose the secured state of your content. We offer customers strong encryption for your content in transit and at rest, and we provide you with the option to manage your own encryption keys.
  • You manage access to your content, and access to AWS services and resources through users, groups, permissions, and credentials that you control.

Some countries outside the U.S. are looking at laws that require local companies to keep data “in country” among other governance controls. How does an AWS customer like Docebo outside the U.S. comply with these new laws? 🌍

AWS data centers are built in clusters in various AWS Regions around the globe. As a customer, you choose the AWS Region(s) in which your customer content is stored, allowing you to deploy AWS services in the location(s) of your choice, in accordance with your specific geographic requirements. For example, if an AWS customer in Australia wants to ensure their data is located only in Australia, they can choose to deploy their AWS services exclusively in the Asia Pacific (Sydney) AWS Region.

You can replicate and back up your customer content in more than one AWS Region, and we will not move or replicate your customer content outside of your chosen AWS Region(s) unless you change your AWS Region selection. However, it is important to note that all AWS services may not be available in all AWS Regions. For more information about AWS Regions, see the AWS Global Infrastructure webpage. For more information about which services are available in which AWS Regions, see the AWS Regions webpage.
