David Grady’s highly amusing observations on the problems inherent in conference calls definitely grabbed my attention, not only because I can relate them to my experiences of running regular meetings on the phone, but also because of the similar issues that can be faced in online meetings. Ideas?

Western fonts and typefaces fall into one of two identifiable categories; either they have small features at the end of strokes to distinguish each character, or they don’t. Serif fonts (or “Roman” fonts) are the ones with the swishes, and sans serif typefaces are the ones that don’t. Am I complaining? No way. hate Lucida Handwriting. Why not?

Keyboard shortcuts are a great way to boost productivity. While most of the keyboard shortcuts are listed besides the menu items in Cp5, there are few which are hidden underneath. Here is a list of some of those shortcuts. Editing shortcuts. Shortcut key. Action. Ctrl + I (Win), Command + I (Mac). Left indent selected items. Decrease magnification.

Chris Anderson’s article The web is dead: long live the internet , in the August edition of Wired magazine, has attracted a lot of attention, including mine, but for many the title of the article would mean very little. The opening question asks, “When was the World Wide Web officially launched?”, with options for the 70s, 80s or 90s. Do I mind?

I stumbled across an interesting paper linked to in a post by Karl Kapp. The paper describes a Professor of Reading’s teachers experience and learning from playing digital games and describes some of the learning principles good games incorporate. In fact, nothing happens until a player acts and makes decisions.
